Mon Sept Zap

The year 2 students are having fun playing a game called Zap. We are using the 21 popular sight words that they know. The student will choose a stick and write the word on chalk boards. If they get the Zap stick they miss a turn. It was fun to see who had the most words.

WELCOME FAMILIES TO Room 132

Welcome back families and welcome new families to Room 132.  Hope you had a great first and second week of school . I had computer difficulties so the blog was delayed. I am going to do a bit of catch up.  Most families have sent back their paperwork so now you will see the awesome learning in our classroom. Ms. Carruthers has Seesaw set up to send families learning as well. A newsletter was sent home with our contact information. We are partners in your child's learning so open communication is the key to success to your child's learning. I am so proud to join our families for a second year of thinking and learning. We had a fantastic year last year so I expect this year to be even better. I will repeat a little about the process of learning for our new families.  To help you join the conversation with your child I will give some information about our classroom.

THINKING  AND  LEARNING
Thinking and learning time a when children learn through play. A large block of our day is set aside for thinking and learning time. The students  are learning through hands on , guided and independent play.  The last 10 minutes of time are set aside to document the learning. The blog will show samples of the learning in our classroom.

DOCUMENTATION

Year 2 students have used this process to  document their learning.
Children may be talking about documenting during thinking and learning time. The last 10 minutes of thinking and learning is set aside so children can document their learning.
WAYS TO DOCUMENT

1 Take a photo with ipod or ipad
2 Use chalk boards to draw a picture and then take a photo
3 Use white boards to draw a picture and then take a photo.
4 Paper and pencil to draw a picture.
5 Write sentences about your learning.

CONSOLIDATION
We gather together discuss our learning and to explain what we did during thinking and learning time.
We are showing the students this process . They are fast learners.
