Fri. Sept 29 Popular 21 Sight Words.

These are the popular sight words that we have posted around in our classroom. We usually start with these 21 and keep adding more as we learn to read. The year 2 students are familiar with these words for writing and reading in the small readers in our classroom.
a      can      to      so
am    no       you        me
and        the         go       my
see     he      I        up         do
in      it      like   we
These words are a good start for the beginner readers in kindergarten.
A great game for families is sounding out sounds for letters when you see letters on signs, grocery stores, books, buildings and the key is to have fun,
Happy Reading and letter searching this weekend.
Have a great weekend.
Share the love!!

Fri Sept 22 Leaves and Maple trees

The children  have been collecting  leaves this week .

We discovered that the leaves shriveled up when we brought them inside. I laminated some leaves and then some students helped me . We are hoping that the leaves will not shrivel. If your child would like to save some flowers or leaves let me know on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend .
Enjoy nature and share the love !!!!

Fri. Sept 22 Math

The children  were continuing the gate keeper idea. I asked the boys to fill in the ten frame to open the gate.

The boys had to  run to the grate to open the gate once the frame was filled with material . We counted by one's and then 10's and learned ten's was faster.
Well Done Ben , Jackson and Cohen.

Thur Sept 21 Thinking and Learning with outdoor ed.

Wed . Sept 20 Stick

Ms. McDowell read this book to student. The student then followed up with an activity to make frogs.

Mon Sept Zap

The year 2 students are having fun playing a game called Zap. We are using the 21 popular sight words that they know. The student will choose a stick and write the word on chalk boards. If they get the Zap stick they miss a turn. It was fun to see who had the most words.
