Mon Nv 13 Forest first snow

We went to the forest and the snow from two days ago was still present. We discussed a big difference in the environment from September to now. The forest had section where the snow had melted. The children still had fun exploring .

A red maple tree still has leaves on it while nearby trees are empty.
Ashriya is prepared for outdoor ed and walking in the neighborhood.

Patches of snow.

The boys found the shovel is still at the forest. They are digging snow and leaves.
  Millie " I found a Yy".

Alvand putting snow on the trees. Can you count the small patches?

Keagan and Lucian climbing on logs.

Nevayah is carrying her sticks to build a fort.

Hadleigh and Lauren are working together.

Shayla" I found a Yy".

I asked Hadleigh what she was playing and she said" I am just resting".
I was reminded of our Zones and Self Regulation. Hadleigh knew when she wanted to rest and take a break. Well Done!!

Every time we have snow I am excited to explore tracks and learn about natural life.
We were so lucky to find tracks in the small amounts of snow in the forest.
WE WONDER ??????

Children suggested that  the tracks were made from ???
Ben" Raccoon"
Bryce" a rabbit."
Jackson "A raccoon."
Mrs. Tizzard " A squirrel  or fox"

We discussed a squirrel may live in the nest nearby. A raccoon also finds a home high in the trees.
We wonder again.??
  Jahntae carrying a stick.

A good close up of the track.

Madelyn and Bryce were discussing who made the track.

A giant nest is a good home for the raccoon or squirrel.

The fort was still standing after the snowfall.
Keagan ,Jackson and Ben climbing to the top.

 We say a Bluejay .
The children were really excited to see the bluejay after stopping to see the big nest in the forest.

I spy in the distance a flock of geese.

A fantastic day exploring in outdoor ed.
