REMINDER : Orange shirt day Sept 30

Hi families I wanted to remind you Sept 30 is orange shirt day. Please dress your child in an orange shirt .

Orange Shirt Day — September 30, 2018. September 28, 2018 — Sunday, September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, a day on which we commemorate the thousands of First Nations, Métis and Inuit children who were removed from their homes at this time of the year and forced to attend residential schools.

We had our Terry Fox Run today.

Math in the classroom ........Sorting

We have been discussing sorting . I saw some sorting in the classroom and  the outdoor classroom.


We discussed putting groups of materials together that have the same attribute.I was happy to see the learning outside.

Maple leaf

I thought this was a fun way to show the maple leaf.
A student showed it to me. "Look Mrs. Tizzard a maple leaf!


Living and non living

We were exploring living and non living items around the school .







We had great discussions about how things were living and now are non living .
For example the tree is alive but the fallen bark from the tree in not. Amazing thinking  and wondering....

Extended Book order

Hi Families I extended the book orders because I was late updating my account . Parents can order online now so now it is super easy. Just go to scholastic Canada select my name and choose the books and check out.  Remember to write your child's name on the form so I know who will get the correct order.

Scholastic Book Orders

I sent home a note and book orders from Scholastic . On back of the orders is the space to check off the books you would like . Please remember to make sure to look in the row with ONT that is us and prices may have different amounts and some items have taxes. I will receive points from Scholastic that allow me to purchase games and books for the classroom when I receive orders from families to get books.The more orders the more points I receive.

Library

Our Library day is Day 2 . You get to borrow the book for a week and return them next Day 2 for an exchange for a new one.

During thinking and learning I saw children learning .
Musical fish game.
 Creating with lego.

 Magnetic alphabet match.

 Creating unique looking devices. I wonder if this is how a telescope was created...
 Dressing and undressing the baby dolls.
 Using hole punchers for fine motor.
Joining straws to create structures.
 A tent with sleeping bag and people.
 Family sleeping in the sleeping bag.
Cover the poles for the tent.
 A bigger covering for the tent

 Ms. Wright brought in sun flowers.
Measuring with standard and non standard objects.


  Sand play creating sand balls.
 Small stone play.
 Sorting by color.

Children are documenting their learning with paper and pencil. I put the pictures on the wall.
Great learning this week.
