Tues. May 16 Plants

I wanted to share more plants discovered in the forest.

Miss Wood has an app to tell you the flower name based on a photo. I will have to download it for the ipod so we can learn the names of these beautiful plants.

Mon May 15 Bugs

The children have been exploring nature and finding bugs and insects. We are trying to find out he names of the cool creatures . The children are really enjoying the inquiry.
When we had our clean up at the pond Ms. McDowell and some students found this interesting larvae. She researched it and it appears that it is not a native creature from Ontario. The investigation continues to identify the name.

Fri. May 12 Mothers's Day

Ms. McDowell , Ms. Smerdon, Ms. Ryan and I would like to wish all our Mom's a wonderful Mother's Day. We hope you have a lovely day with your beautiful little children. We love them too. We also hope you enjoy the special gifts.

It is hard to believe your little kindergarten child was this small.
I too have to reflect on this day my own children are 16, 18 and 20.
Have a beautiful Mother's Day!
Share the love!!!

Fri. May 12 Forest

We went to the forest today. We went exploring for some plant life. I posted some pictures of plants earlier.  The children are learning two life cycles right now.: The plant and the butterfly.
Kennedy and Leah found more rare red Trilliums.
Nikolai found two large Trilliums together.

Lovely Red Trillium I hope that is what it is called.

Damien Sawyer, Nikolai and Mackenzie made a shelter for the animals.
Millie and Jordyn balancing on logs.
Leah showing her strength to carry a log.
This picture tells a story on Ben guiding Jackson to lift a log to the right spot
and  then tying the ends with string. Sometimes I wish I could rewind the moment.

A strange find a skull of an animal I wonder????

Children balancing on a huge log.

Jordyn explaining to Millie how to walk with sticks in their house.
"It is really wobbly!!!" said Jordyn.
A fun day today.

Tues. May 9 Butterflies.

We have a butterfly kit in our classroom. Ms. Baldry gave all the classrooms a kit this year. I am hopeful that these caterpillars will change to Panted Lady Butterfly. We had these last year and I was not successful but I am happy to see we have more to try again. The children have been looking at them all week.

Friday's growth. I think they may be ready for the next stage.
