Thurs. Feb 2 Groundhog Day

Well on Thursday we discussed predictions if the groundhog would see its shadow. The folklore is if the groundhog see it shadow then it gets scared and goes back to its burrow and sleeps for six more weeks of winter. If it doesn't see its shadow then we will have a short winter.

The children did a tally.
  Damien completing his tally.
Ms. McDowell read this book about shadows
Mrs. Tizzard and friends creating shadows during outdoor ed.

Shadow Shadows with the sun.

In the afternoon Mrs. C brought this book in for us to read about Groundhog Day.
Ms. McDowell read it to the class.

The groundhog in Ontario never saw its shadow and stayed outside therefore we are predicted to have three more weeks of winter. Time will tell.
